It's June?!

Well good morning! This year flew by! I had a great group of kiddos and parents for my first year of teaching. I couldn't have asked for a better first year!

I thought I would post some pictures of our year in review. I wasn't that great at remembering to take pictures at the beginning of the year so most of these pictures are from the spring :) This is a VERY brief overview...my goal this year is to take more pictures!

During February we read: Love, Splat and then wrote about what love is. They came up with some pretty cute responses ;)

This is a lesson we did during our fractions unit! My kiddos loved doing anything hands on, especially making crafts. They got to pick the number of circles they wanted and the colors.
Then on the back they had to write a fraction for each color they chose.

During Dr. Seuss week the students wrote about what they wanted to be when they grow up. The students were very thoughtful and creative with their answers!
For those of you that don't know..St. Patrick's Day is my absolute FAVORITE holiday! This is one craftivity we did for this holiday!

I also made these little treats for the kiddos, which they loved!
We had leprechaun floats...the kids loved the "crazy" straws (which I unintentionally bought) more than the floats themselves!
This is a craftivity we did at the end of the year. In the summer my feet take me places...

I will leave you with some cute pictures of my ADORABLE little nephew :)

Shoppin!

Ice cream at Dairy Queen!

A nice spring walk!

He got it in his mouth haha. For being a boy, he doesn't like to get dirty!

He's such a cutie! He is getting SO big. I love spending time with him, butttt since I live so far away we enjoy phone calls too :) He says, "Kaaatieeeee," in his chipper little voice when he gets on the phone. Who can't smile at that?!

Well that's all for now! I can get into my new classroom June 25! The countdown begins....t-minus 19 days! I am getting a little antsy and restless not being able to work on things! I hope you are all enjoying your summer!

Sweet Summertime

Well hi there! I can't believe it's been two months since I last posted! Crazy! Soooo I found out that I will for sure be teaching 1st grade! I also had the opportunity to meet my first grade team about a month ago as well as my mentor. I got to see my classroom as well! I absolutely loved it. It was a little overwhelming because I went from having no clue to what was going on next year to pretty much having the first three weeks planned out! But it has been great to figure some things out and get a good start on things for next year. Not much else for now! Oh! I also met with my fellow students who I will be doing the grad program with, this past Thursday. There are five teachers in my district that are doing the program and one is even at my school! I am really excited to get to know them all better and sooo looking forward to this next year! :) Hope all is well with everyone! We just kicked off summer here today (last day of school), so for you teachers and students, I hope you enjoyed the last day of the school year and have some exciting plans for the summer!

Breaking News!!

Well hello everyone!
It's hard to believe it's been a month since I last blogged! It has been a crazy one too! Every since I started subbing, I've been subbing almost everyday plus working nights. This has been good since it keeps my mind off of the fall and wanting to know my placement. But, today I got a call from my superintendent!! I found out what school I am going to be at and that I will most likely be teaching first grade! I was so excited because I have been subbing in first grade this week and have really enjoyed it :) Well, that's all I really have for now!
Adios!

Subbing

Hello all!!
Well I was getting quite frustrated with the subbing situation. All of my paperwork had come back about three weeks ago and I hadn't gotten called! So I called the district and they said that I hadn't been okayed yet, but I had been told that I had. So it came out that the company who hires subs just hadn't let my district know that I was on the list yet! Grrrrrr. This happened on Monday. On the brighter side, I subbed in Kindergarten on Tuesday and I am subbing in 2nd grade on Thursday. I am sooo excited. I really like it and it keeps me busy too :)
Well that's all!

Classes and Teaching!

Well, my meeting yesterday went fairly well. I decided to do my concentration on Literacy for my grad classes. One of them that I'm taking in the fall is Writing Across the Curriculum, which I am super excited about! This summer, I'll be taking two in June and two in July, along with working part-time. I guess I should enjoy my down time now because the busy days are coming!
I am on the edge of my seat as far as finding out my grade goes! I know I keep talking about that, but my gosh I just wanna know! It's all in God's timing though and I trust that He'll give me the grade that's best for me. I guess we might be able to get into our classrooms as early as June, but it could be later too. The sooner the better as far as that goes because let me tell you I am indecisive and having four walls to decorate will surely take me some time! Have a great night! :)

Contract Signing

Soooo I sign my teaching contract today! Woohoo! I am also taking grad classes starting this summer, which I don't know if I've mentioned. But I'm also choosing my area of concentration today! I wish I could just pick them all, ha! Right now I'm debating between Improvement of Instruction, Literacy, or Math and Science. Personally, I love math and science but I think literacy would be more beneficial to focus on. Anyways, I've got some things to do before the meetings but have a great day everyone! :)

Updates, Updates!

Good morning! Well the superintendent of my district just called to see if I was certified in Early Childhood...and unfortunately I'm not so I told him I wasn't. In our district you have to have your Early Childhood degree to teach kindergarten, so sadly I will not be teaching kindergarten. I did my student teaching in kindergarten and absolutely loved it! However, he said a first or second grade placement would be good too. Between you and me (and the rest of the blogger world) I'm pulling for second. But I will be happy with wherever I get placed! I just can't wait to find out! Well, that's all for now. Adios!
